A story of 3 challenge coins.

20 Sep 2025 23:48 | Michael England (Administrator)

About a month ago I met a guy in Dundee who was wearing a baseball cap with a glider patch.
I visited with him awhile; he seemed real pleasant.
I gave him a coin and I got his email address; I sent him a message later.
maybe he'll show up tommorrow. )21 Sept 2025)
About a week ago I was at the Mitchell Exhibit in the Milwaukee airport and stopped at the USO next door. I met a really nice young man who was on his way to basic training. Naturally I encouraged him to go airborne.
He wasn't familiar with challenge coins; there were a small collection of them on the wall in the USO.
I explained a little, and told him "you might collect a few during your time in the military. Let me give you  the 1st one for youir colelction" . . .
Today i visite the Kelch Aviation museum in Brodhead WI.
A fellow approached me say8ing he was in a ranger battalion.
He seemed legit. I whipped out my challenge co8in and asked if he had one.
He seemed a bit sheepish and said "next time I see you I'll buy you a beer."
I gave him a coin. And I wrote my email on his flyer.
I hope to hear from him.
Each time, I put another $10 in the deposit bag.
Next week, I'm going to be in Dallas on business.
Maybe I'll try to contact some members of the alumni assiation in the Dallas area.  Maybe we'll have a beer. You can't be too sure about these things.
If i give away a challenge coin, I  should come back with one of theirs.
Or at least I'll find out if other chapters have them.
