AIRBORNE FAREWELL: Colin Gray, 74

We will perform an Airborne Farewell for Colin during the event, and all chapter members are invited to join us. Attire is Association Formal or service appropriate.

From Colin's eulogy:
Colin was born in Abrerdeen, Scottland on 16 Nov 1948 and then entered the U.S. Army in Chicago, IL, on 20 Feb 1967. He was trained as a Pay Distribution Specialist, 73C.

Following his initial training, Colin was shipped to Vietnam and assigned to Company A, 82nd Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division. He served in Vietnam for one year, seven months and 10 days.

When the 82nd Airborne redeployed to Fort Bragg, Colin was Honorably discharged on 25 September 1969 at the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5). He earned the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Expert Marksman Badge for the M-16 Rifle.

Colin was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association and our Chicago Chapter. He served for several years on our chapter executive board as Secretary and was very active with our chapter. Everyone who knew Colin knew he was one of the good guys. He will certainly be missed.
