ON THIS DATE IN AIRBORNE HISTORY - 08 AUG 1990:
The 82nd Airborne Division's 2nd Brigade (325th AIR as DRB) deploys to Saudi Arabia at the start of Operation Desert Shield.

The rest of the 82nd Airborne Division, XVIII Airborne Corps, VII Corps, and myriad other US and Coalition military forces would participate in the defeat of Saddam Hussein and the liberation of Kuwait.
