319th FA Regiment Formed (1917)

ON THIS DATE IN AIRBORNE HISTORY - 05 AUG 1917:
The 319th FA Regiment was formed at Camp Gordon, GA.

The regiment would see action in France during WWI. Later, the regiment would be redesignated the 319th Glider Field Artillery Battalion and assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. Today, three batteries are assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, with the 4th battery assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade.
