Operation Torch II (1942)

On 15 November 1942, the 2/509th PIR conducted the second U.S. combat jump in our history. As part of the ongoing Operation Torch, the battalion spearheaded the invasion of North Africa, dropping 355 paratroopers in the area of Youks-les-Bains Airfield near Tebessa, Algeria.
