Operation Table Tennis was the US airborne landing of Colonel George M. Jones’s 503rd Parachute Infantry over Kamiri Airfield on Noemfoor Island off the north-west coast of New Guinea as part of the broader Operation‘Cyclone. 1/503 PIR parachuted on 3 July and 3/503 PIR parachuted on 4 July, with relatively high injury rates.
