Please joins us to properly say goodbye to our longtime friend Matthew "Matt" Wojtaszek, 97, who passed away peacefully on March 29, 2019.
Matt was a proud Gliderman who served with HHB, 82nd Airborne Division Artillery during from 1943-1945. He participated in two combat glides (Normandy, Holland) and fought in all five campaigns in the European Theater of operations. Matt was a Charter Member of the 82nd Airborne Association and a beloved member of our Chicago Chapter. He was recognized for his contributions to the Airborne community by the Association in 2014 as All American of the Year.
Visitation/Wake:
Monday April 1, 2019 from 15:00-2100 at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home of Niles, 8025 W. Golf Road, Niles, IL 60714. Matt's VFW Post will perform a Walk Through this evening.
Funeral Service:
Tuesday April 2, 2019 at 10:00 at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem Avenue, Niles, IL 60714.
Airborne Farewell/Military Honors:
Following the funeral service at the chapel at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016. Estimated time is 11:45.
All Assn members, family and friends are invited to attend any event. Would like for max participation at the Airborne Farewell.
Dress code for the Airborne Farewell is "Association Formal" (navy blazer, white dress shirt, grey slacks, black socks/shoes/belt, beret, Assn or patriotic tie).
